The parish of St. Finnan's was established in 1833. When the Diocese of Alexandria was created in 1890, the new bishop, Alexander Macdonell chose St. Finnan's as his Cathedral.
Construction on the current church building began in 1884 under the direction of the soon to be first bishop of the diocese.
Father Kelvin Maloney is the current pastor of the Cathedral.

Weekend Masses are at 5 pm on Saturday, 8 am and 11 am on Sunday.
Weekday Mass is at 8 am
Hours for Confession
Prior to mass and from 3 pm to 5 pm on Saturdays.
