The Church dates from 1932 and was built by the Missionaries of Africa using Local baked bricks. The area was for protestants at the time but now have more than 2 000 Catholics who congregate at the Cathedral of the Assumption of our Lady ans surrounding Parishes in Mansa Town. The See has had five predecessors and more than 50 Diocesan Sister of Mercy (SOM) and 45 Diocesan Priests. It was created as Diocese in 1961.
