The foundation stone was laid in June 1814. On December 22nd 1816, Holy Mass was celebrated for the first time within its walls. The Cathedral reopened in 2011 after an extensive renovation which saw the installation of new art work by Peter Howson, Tim Pomeroy and Jack Sloan. This year we celebrate the 200th Anniversary of our Mother Church
